My name is Casper van der Heijden (23) and I recently joined the R&D department of Intracare/Intrahorti as the Microbiology Analyst. 

In March this year I graduated for my bachelor of Applied Science – Science&Life at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. During my study I learned a lot about Molecular Biology and micro-organisms like viruses and bacteria. During my study I’ve had a few internships, one of them was at the hospital of ‘s ’Hertogenbosch. At the Jeroen Bosch Hospital – Molecular Diagnostics I worked on SNP detection in saliva/blood without the isolation of DNA with an isothermal PCR and qPCR.

Now that I’m working for Intracare I’m motivated to use and/or implement the methods/techniques that I learned during my study and internships. It is my pleasure to work at a company like Intracare, it is an innovative company that works towards the next generation of farming. And that is something that I like to be a part of!

During my free time I’m busy building parade wagons with a group of friends, sporting, hanging out with friends or traveling with my girlfriend.
